Who makes this, and why

Project 2025 Tracker is made by Jeff Gabhart at Cactus Wren, with Claude Code doing the reading and the checking, every step directed and reviewed by a person. It is an independent project — not affiliated with the Heritage Foundation, any campaign, party, or news organization, and not funded by anyone.

Why it exists

Mandate for Leadership is long, and most of what has been said about it is a summary of a summary. We wanted a place where you could see the document's own words next to the public record — what it asked for, on which page, and what has happened since — without anyone paraphrasing in between.

We also wanted a place that looked forward. Most coverage asks how much of the plan has been carried out. We think the more useful question is what is left, and what the parts already done tell you about how seriously to take the rest. That is the site's point of view, and it is the only one: we do not say whether any recommendation is good or bad, and we do not predict what happens next.

Who it is for

Anyone who has heard "Project 2025" and wants to know whether it is real. We write for that reader first. We also write for the reporter who will click every link; every status has a dated source, and if you find one that does not hold up, we want to know.

How to read it

Start with Still to come for what has not yet been carried out, the chapters for the record agency by agency, and the method for how status and evidence work. The people page lists everyone credited in the document.

Corrections

The site is built from a public repository at github.com/jeffgabhart/proj2025. Corrections, missing evidence, and disagreements about a status are welcome as issues there.
