The Secretariat of the Geneva Consensus Declaration returned to the United States, which now hosts it jointly through State and HHS.

Alignment became a condition of U.S. foreign assistance. Both the Protecting Life in Foreign Assistance and the Combating Gender Ideology in Foreign Assistance final rules cite the Geneva Consensus Declaration and, with Combating Discriminatory Equity Ideology, form the Promoting Human Flourishing in Foreign Assistance policy - award terms binding foreign and U.S. NGOs, public international organizations, foreign governments and parastatals across all Department foreign assistance, effective 2026-02-26. That is the Obama- and Biden-era engagements being brought into line, by rule.

The Secretary of State informed signatories that the United States would rejoin the Geneva Consensus Declaration immediately, restoring the instrument the Quote uses as the alignment standard.
