“Practically, this would mean establishing a distinct role in the FTC Chairman’s office focused on state AG cooperation and inviting state AGs to Washington, D.C., to discuss enforcement policy in key sectors under the FTC’s jurisdiction: Big Tech, hospital mergers, supermarket mergers, and so forth.”

What has happened

    No such role was created. The FTC's own Bureaus and Offices list carries three bureaus and thirteen offices and nothing on state cooperation, and none of the Chairman's twelve announced senior appointments between 2025-02-10 and 2026-01-30 is a state-AG liaison. Working with state attorneys general did increase — the FTC filed jointly with states against Amazon, Zillow/Redfin, Hims & Hers, WPATH and the ad agencies, and joined a Texas-led ESG antitrust case — but that is the pre-existing practice of co-filing, not a distinct post in the Chairman's office, and no gathering of state AGs in Washington to discuss enforcement policy was announced. **The two documents the read-queue row asked for have now been opened (2026-09-06) and both come back empty.** The Commission's own organization chart, stamped "Last Updated 9/3/2026", shows the Chairman, the Commissioners, a Chief of Staff and every office and bureau by name - Congressional Relations, Public Affairs, International Affairs, the Secretary, the Executive Director, Administrative Law Judges, General Counsel, Chief Information Officer, Technology, Chief Financial Officer, Inspector General, Equal Employment Opportunity, Policy Planning, Chief Privacy Officer, the three bureaus and a single "Regions" box. **There is no state-attorney-general post on it, in the Chairman's office or anywhere else.** The FY 2027 Congressional Budget Justification says the same in prose: under "Collaboration with State Attorneys General" it reports only that "[t]he FTC continues to partner with state Attorneys General to protect consumers from unfair and deceptive practices across the marketplace" - the continuing co-filing practice, described as continuing, with no post and no convening.

  • Negative search: ftc.gov/about-ftc/bureaus-offices (read 2026-09-01 and again 2026-09-06; the office list has no state-cooperation post and there is no Office of the Chairman page — /about-ftc/bureaus-offices/office-chairman 404s); ftc.gov press-release searches for appoints, state attorney general and state attorneys general across the window.
  • The organization chart is dated, and that matters (read-queue ticket 07, 2026-09-06). It is linked from the bureaus-and-offices page only in the markup — the visible text reads “FTC Organization Chart (135.94 KB)” with no anchor an agent’s text extract will keep — and lives at ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/ftc-org-chart.pdf. Its own footer carries “Last Updated 9/3/2026”, so it is a dated instrument rather than an undated directory dated at observation. ftc.gov opens on the browser-User-Agent rung of scripts/fetch-page.mjs.
  • The 2024 edition was not obtained, so this is a negative about the chart as it stands and not a diff. It does not need to be a diff: the ask is that a post be created, and the current chart shows it does not exist.
  • The joint filings are recorded here as context because they are the reason a reader might think the ask was met; they carry no Evidence line because they are not the thing asked for (§3b, progress is measured on this ask).
