BLM's Oregon/Washington State Office gave notice of intent to revise the Northwestern and Coastal Oregon and Southwestern Oregon resource management plans "[i]n support of the Oregon and California Revested Railroad Lands Act of 1937 (O&C Act)", citing wildfire, barred-owl management and "severely reduced timber production" as reasons, and saying the revisions "would replace the existing RMPs". Scoping only: the 2016 plans still govern, and no allowlisted record shows the sustained-yield timber volume rising. Interior finalized two NEPA categorical exclusions for BLM timber salvage and thinning on 2026-08-20, which speeds projects without changing what the plans allow.
