EPA proposed to amend the 2024 Safer Communities by Chemical Accident Prevention rule, and the list of provisions it would change includes information availability — the 2019 amendment on protecting sensitive information that the Quote names — along with safer technology and alternatives analyzes, third-party audits, employee participation, community and emergency responder notification, siting, natural hazards, power loss and the retail facility definition. The comment period was extended on 2026-04-02 and no final rule had issued by 2026-08-28.

EPA listed "Reconsideration of Biden-Harris Administration Risk Management Program rule that made America's oil and natural gas refineries and chemical facilities less safe" among the 31 deregulatory actions announced on 2025-03-12. Nothing had changed in the rule yet.
