DHS rescinded the 2022 public charge rule outright, saying it "was not the best implementation of the statute" and that rescission "restores broader discretion for DHS officers". One of the Quote's two named regulations is withdrawn — though what replaced it is restored discretion rather than the reissued rule the Quote also wants. The Biden credible fear and asylum-jurisdiction regulations for border crossers have not been withdrawn or replaced; the only movement in that area is the 2020 security bars rule taking effect on 2025-12-31 (see #354).
