Close all Secret Service field offices

Not started

Printed page 157 5. Department of Homeland Security

“It should begin the logistical operation of closing all field offices throughout the country and internationally to the extent they are not taken over by Treasury or Justice.”

What has happened

  1. Not started

No field office has closed. The Service's own newsroom shows its New York, Washington, Chicago and Miami field offices running investigations through July and August 2026, and its field-office directory is unchanged. Nothing in the window begins the logistical operation the Quote describes, and nothing has been taken over by Treasury or Justice.

Research notes

One negative search covered Chapter 5’s asks on pp. 151-158.

The Secret Service’s field-office page, https://www.secretservice.gov/contact/field-offices (read 2026-08-28), still lists the domestic and international field office network.

This ask is conditional on #404 - offices close “to the extent they are not taken over by Treasury or Justice” - and #404 has not happened, so the premise never arose. The Service moved the other way on resourcing as well: Public Law 119-21 section 100057 gave it $1.17 billion for additional personnel, training facilities and technology.
