Moved the other way. The Secret Service's non-protective investigative mission - financial crimes, payment-card skimming, cyber-enabled fraud, threats - is not only still with the Service but is its main public output: in 2026 alone its field offices announced a skimming operation in New York, a $27 million money-laundering conviction in Atlanta, an international ransomware case, and, on 2026-08-19, the Miami Field Office's Operation Heat Check, in which agents inspected 2,842 point-of-sale terminals, gas pumps and ATMs across 378 businesses. No transfer of any investigative function to the Department of Justice or the Department of the Treasury has been proposed or made.

One negative search covered the Secret Service asks on pages 151–158 of the Chapter, this one among them. No executive order, reorganization notice or enacted provision transfers Secret Service investigations; Federal Register full-text search over the window returns one Secret Service document, the 160th-anniversary proclamation of 2025-07-02.
Congress: the six Secret Service bills in Congress (H.R. 56, H.R. 4364, H.R. 7876, H.R. 8058, H.R. 8702, H.R. 9503) are all in committee. H.R. 8702, the Secret Service Transfer Act of 2026, would move the whole Service to the Executive Office of the President - a different destination and not a split, as recorded under #275.
Related: #275 (p. 136) is the major-tier ask that the Service be split between DOJ and Treasury and is not started on the same record. This item is the operational half of the same idea and gets the same answer for the same reasons.
