“Increase funding levels. Congress should expand the funding of the Office of Labor-Management Standards.”

What has happened

  1. Not started

The Office of Labor-Management Standards has not been expanded. The FY2027 President's Budget requests $50,115,000 for OLMS against $48 million obligated in 2025 and $49 million estimated for 2026 — a nominal increase of about four per cent over two years, which is flat in real terms and is not presented as an expansion. Congress has enacted no FY2027 appropriation.

Research notes

  • Boundary, flagged to the spot-check register: §3b makes a President’s Budget request a formal administration request, which would ordinarily put a funding ask at attempted. This request is a routine line increase rather than a proposal to expand the office, so the item is held at not started with the figures as the Evidence. A reviewer who treats any above-baseline request as an attempt would move it to attempted.
  • The Budget cuts the Department’s worker-protection agencies by $234 million overall while leaving OLMS marginally up, which is the shape of the trade rather than an investment in OLMS.
  • The investigative-practice half of the Mandate’s OLMS program is #1656; the disclosure-forms half is #1650.
