Expand the Abraham Accords to Saudi Arabia and other Arab states
Printed page 185 6. Department of State
“Second, the next Administration should build on the Trump Administration’s diplomatic successes by encouraging other Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, to enter the Abraham Accords.”
What has happened
- Partially done
State's report to Congress on "A Strategy to Expand the Historic Abraham Accords" sets out the plan: consultative mechanisms with Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan; continued engagement "with all the countries who do not recognize Israel, particularly Saudi Arabia, and negotiate conditions and frameworks for normalization"; and expansion in Sub-Saharan Africa. Saudi normalization is still a negotiating objective, not an accession, so the Quote's named object is not delivered.
- Partially done
The Accords were expanded, but not to an Arab state. Kazakhstan agreed on 2025-11-06 to accede, the first country to join in the second term and the first Central Asian signatory; State's fact sheet records it under "Growing the Abraham Accords". No Arab state, and not Saudi Arabia, has joined.
