What has happened

    Nothing found. OSERS has published no research digest on significant disproportionality and sent nothing to state superintendents or state special education directors. The only in-window action on the subject is the Unified Agenda entry announcing an intent to amend the Equity in IDEA regulation (RIN 1820-AB84), which is #848; the regulation itself is still in force and states are still reporting under it.

  • Negative search: Federal Register full text for “significant disproportionality” since 2025-01-20 returns three documents, none of them a research product; ED’s press releases for 2025-2026 (400, listed from the ed.gov sitemap) carry no OSERS digest, disproportionality research release or letter to state special education leaders; and the FY 2027 Budget Request cuts the Institute of Education Sciences’ Research, Development and Dissemination account from $79.2 million to $39.8 million.
  • An OSERS mailing to state officials may never generate a public instrument, so this is an ask that may be impossible to verify by its nature.
