Move IIJA reactor demonstration funds into the Office of Nuclear Energy
Printed page 376 12. Department of Energy and Related Commissions
“Legislation such as the IIJA placed additional funding for new reactor demonstration projects outside of NE. These responsibilities and their associated funds should be moved to NE as appropriate.”
What has happened
- Done
P.L. 119-74 section 311(a) transfers $3,100,000,000 of unobligated IIJA balances into the Nuclear Energy account, available only for the two competitive Generation III+ small modular reactor deployment awards, the two Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program awards already made, and Risk Reduction for Future Demonstrations. That is the transfer the Quote asks for, enacted.

Research notes
Requires-Congress ask, enacted, so done on the ladder.
The source balances are IIJA amounts under EPAct 2005 subtitle J of title IX, section 969D and section 962(b)(2), plus IIJA section 40323 civil nuclear credit money; the destination is the NE appropriation. #970 reads the same section for what it does to the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program.
