Order an accounting of DEI/CRT/gender ideology in federal programs

“The next President should issue a series of executive orders requiring: … An accounting of how federal programs/grants spread DEI/CRT/gender ideology”

What has happened

  1. Done

Executive Order 14190 adds the two ideologies EO 14151 does not name. Its §3(b)(i) requires the Ending Indoctrination Strategy to contain "a summary and analysis of ... all Federal funding sources and streams, including grants or contracts, that directly or indirectly support or subsidize the instruction, advancement, or promotion of gender ideology or discriminatory equity ideology" in K-12 curriculum and teacher preparation, due within 90 days. Between the two orders the accounting the Quote describes — DEI, critical-race-theory-style "discriminatory equity ideology", and gender ideology, across federal programs and grants — is required by executive order.

  2. Done

Executive Order 14151 §2(b)(ii) requires every agency head, within sixty days, to give the Director of OMB a list of all "DEI, DEIA, or 'environmental justice' positions, committees, programs, services, activities, budgets, and expenditures" in existence on November 4, 2024, an assessment of whether any have been "misleadingly relabeled", a list of contractors who provided DEI training, and a list of "Federal grantees who received Federal funding to provide or advance DEI, DEIA, or 'environmental justice' programs, services, or activities since January 20, 2021". That is the accounting of how federal programs and grants spread DEI that the Quote asks an executive order to require.

Research notes

  • The ask is for the issuance of the order, and two orders issue it. Neither the OMB lists under EO 14151 nor the Ending Indoctrination Strategy under EO 14190 has been published, so the accounting itself is not public; that is a limit on what a reader can see, not on whether the order was made.
  • At the Department of Education the same directive produced visible action: the Diversity & Inclusion Council and OCR’s EEDIAC were dissolved and DEI materials withdrawn on 2025-01-23 (press release), and the EndDEI.Ed.Gov reporting portal opened on 2025-02-27.
