“The next President should issue a series of executive orders requiring: … The reissuing of the report on school safety from 2018 with updated information”
What has happened
- Not started
The 2018 Federal Commission on School Safety report has not been reissued. The administration invokes it — Executive Order 14280 quotes the Commission at length on how the 2014 school-discipline Dear Colleague Letter made schools less safe — but what the order requires is a different and narrower document: a report to the President within 120 days "regarding the status of discriminatory-equity-ideology-based school discipline and behavior modification techniques", covering Title VI discipline investigations since 2009, the role of grantee non-profits, and model discipline policies. That is one chapter of the 2018 report's subject matter, ordered as new work, not a reissue with updated information; and no such report has been published either. Progress is measured on this ask (playbook §3b).

What was searched, and what didn’t count as evidence
Research notes
- A Federal Register search for “Federal Commission on School Safety” since 2025-01-20 found two documents, EO 14280 and the Title VI regulatory rescission (FR 2026-15019), neither reissuing the report. The ed.gov sitemap fetched 2026-08-27 carries school safety topic pages and the School Safety Enhancement Program competition (FR 2026-11103, 2026-06-03) but no 2018 Commission report page or successor.
- The same search covered the list of asked-for executive orders on pp. 357–359.
Checked 2026-09-06. The Status did not change; the negative was re-run on a search that discriminates. This ask had been paired with #915 as “reports ordered but not published”. Both were re-checked using the Department’s full-text site search, as against its other search box, which returns identical text for any query including a nonsense one and cannot support a negative.
“Federal Commission on School Safety” returns the Department’s standing school-safety topic pages, the School Safety Enhancement Program grant pages, and a set of 2018 hearing submissions to the Commission itself (its 2018-07-23 submissions document and five named witness statements). There is no reissued report and no successor document. “school discipline report” and “discriminatory equity ideology” likewise surface only pre-window discipline material and the rescinded 2014 Dear Colleague Letter — the EO 14280 §3(e) report, which would be the nearest thing to a partial reissue, is not published, as #843 records at greater length.
Reach: strong about publication on ed.gov and in the Federal Register; silent about a report delivered to the President and not released, which is the form §3(e) prescribes. The item is not started because the Quote asks for the 2018 report to be reissued with updated information and no document in the window purports to be that, not merely because a search came back empty.
