EPA proposed to rescind or revise the 2024 amendments to the procedural framework rule that governs how it conducts existing chemical risk evaluations under the Lautenberg amendments — the central implementing policy. It remains a proposal, and the broader set of policies the Quote points at (prioritization, section 5 determinations, the new chemicals framework) is untouched.

EPA began revising the rules that implement the 2016 Lautenberg amendments by postponing the effectiveness of provisions of the trichloroethylene section 6(a) rule, and went on to extend compliance dates for methylene chloride (2025-11-13), trichloroethylene again (2025-11-14, 2026-02-18, 2026-05-05) and perchloroethylene and carbon tetrachloride (2026-07-28). These are in-force changes to Lautenberg-era rules, but they move dates rather than revise the policies behind them.
