“its school security functions should be transferred to state homeland security offices”

What has happened

  1. Not started

Moved the other way. CISA still runs the school-safety mission and is expanding it: on 2026-08-12 it announced the K-12 Cybersecurity Foundations Resource Package, "a comprehensive collection of guides, videos and supplemental materials" for schools and districts, and its School Safety topic page still describes the CISA School Safety Task Force as "the agency's dedicated program established to strengthen schools' safety and security across the country". Nothing has been transferred to state homeland security offices.

What was searched, and what didn’t count as evidence

Research notes

One negative search covered the CISA asks on pages 151–158 of the Chapter, this one among them.

The Quote is one clause of the same sentence as #390. Same answer, opposite direction of travel: this function is not merely unmoved, it grew inside the window.

CISA’s school safety page (cisa.gov/topics/physical-security/school-safety), read 2026-08-28, is the corroborating page; the dated press release is what carries the event.

  • Checked against CISA’s own pages on 2026-09-03: nothing on this ask. CISA’s resources and tools pages open and can be read — the group, resource and program pages all carry their text. The CSAC group and meeting-resources pages were read for #393 and carry nothing bearing on this item.
