International energy activities should be consolidated under IA (and the Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources should be eliminated) to ensure a proper understanding of domestic energy policy and how it affects foreign policy.”

The State Department half happened: the April 2025 America First reorganization plan dissolved the Bureau of Energy Resources, and State's current bureau listing shows energy work folded into a Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs under the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs, with no Bureau of Energy Resources. Partial: the DOE half did not. No expansion of the Office of International Affairs and no consolidation of international energy activities under it was found; IA remains an unchanged staff office on DOE's 3 August 2026 chart.
