Delete all USDA references to transforming the food system

Not started

Printed page 293 10. Department of Agriculture · abridged

“the USDA should remove all references to transforming the food system on its web site and other department-disseminated material, and it should expressly and regularly communicate the principles informing the objectives listed above, as well as promote these principles through legislative efforts.”

What has happened

Now verified, and the answer is that the sweep has not been done. `https://www.usda.gov/fst` was read on 2026-09-03 and is live and unchanged, still headed "Transforming the U.S. Food System" and still opening: "The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), alongside **Biden-Harris Administration leadership** and the people of this great country, has embarked on another historic journey: transforming the food system as we know it—from farm to fork, and at every stage along the supply chain." The priorities page the earlier pass could see only as a search-engine entry is live too, still carrying "By transforming the food system's infrastructure…", "climate-smart food and forestry practices" and "committing to equity across the Department by removing systemic barriers and building a workforce more representative of America". Both are in USDA's own sitemap, and nine further pages in it match `transform|food-system`, including the Office of the Chief Economist's "U.S. Food Systems", "Food Systems Dialogues", "UN Food Systems Summit" and "Climate Change, Global Food Security, and the U.S. Food System". Eleven such pages remain twenty months into the window, one of them still crediting the previous administration by name, which is the strongest form of negative available for an eliminate-a-webpage ask. No Federal Register notice, secretarial memorandum or press release announces removal of the material.

What was searched, and what didn’t count as evidence

Research notes

  • Checked 2026-09-03: both pages were opened. They are live, and the item is not started, as the earlier reading expected. The two URLs that were leads are now Evidence.
  • Corrected: usda.gov is not closed. It opens to a request that looks in every respect like a desktop browser’s; a request that only names a browser is refused, which is what the earlier search recorded.
  • usda.gov’s site search does not work: a real term and the nonsense control “zzqxwrflub” return near-identical 174 KB pages with no result list. The sitemap (usda.gov/sitemap.xml, eight pages, 1,554 URLs) is USDA’s own complete page index and is the substitute used here.
  • The FNS mirror of the Biden-era framework release (https://www.fns.usda.gov/news-item/usda-0116.22, ”…Transforming the Food System to Be Fairer, More Competitive, More Resilient”) is still indexed, which suggests the archive at least has not been purged; it is a 2022 document, so it is not evidence about this administration either.
