Keep Secret Service visitor logs for all presidential facilities

Not started

Printed page 158 5. Department of Homeland Security

“USSS should keep visitor logs for all facilities where the President works or resides.”

What has happened

  1. Not started

No visitor logs are being kept and published for the facilities where the President works or resides. The White House's own disclosures page (read 2026-08-28) carries financial disclosure reports and ethics waivers and no visitor records section; the previous administration's visitor-record releases stopped with the change of administration; and nothing covers Mar-a-Lago, Bedminster or other residences designated under the Presidential Protection Assistance Act. Federal Register full-text search over the window returns no document on Secret Service visitor logs, and neither DHS's press index nor the Secret Service newsroom mentions them.

No action found yet. This entry is the starting point, not a finding.

Research notes

One negative search covered this ask with the others on pages 151–158 of Chapter 5.

The Quote is unusual for this chapter in asking for more transparency, and it is a records-management practice with no published instrument either way, so the negative search is what carries the Status. The Secret Service’s FOIA page (secretservice.gov/foia) and its reading-room page both return “not found”, so the Service’s own disclosure posture could not be read directly.

Public Law 119-21 section 90006 appropriated $300 million to reimburse state and local law-enforcement costs of protecting designated presidential residences - Congress legislating about those very facilities without touching visitor records.
