    There has been nothing to oppose and no opposition was expressed. Neither the For the People Act nor the Freedom to Vote Act was reintroduced in the 119th Congress, no bill of any kind proposes changing the number of FEC commissioners, and no presidential statement, veto threat or Statement of Administration Policy on FEC structure was found. The only campaign-finance bills to appear are the DISCLOSE Act of 2026 (H.R. 7802, S. 3991, both referred to committee), which is a disclosure measure and does not touch the Commission's composition.

  • Negative search: bills.ndjson title greps for “For the People Act”, “Freedom to Vote”, “DISCLOSE”, “Election Commission” (0 bills naming the Commission); the full 119th-Congress title sweep for “election” was read by eye and contains no restructuring bill. Federal Register API conditions[term]="Federal Election Commission", PRESDOCU, since 2025-01-20 → 1 document (EO 14215), which leaves the six-member structure alone.
  • The Commission is, in fact, operating with two members and no quorum, which is a different problem from the one this Quote guards against; it is recorded on #2228 and #2224, not here.
