Put political appointees over each division's public affairs officers

Not started

Printed page 570 17. Department of Justice

“This could be made more efficient by having political appointees for each division under the supervision of the Director of Public Affairs.”

What has happened

  1. Not started

No political appointee has been placed over any division's public information officers, and no change to the Office of Public Affairs' supervision of component press staff has been published. Searched the Federal Register Corpus for every Justice Department rule, proposed rule and notice in the window, the whitehouse.gov presidential-actions Corpus, the congress.gov bills and nominations Corpus, and all 2,087 headquarters press releases fetched from the department's own press API for the window. The department's organizational rulemaking in the window touched the Tax Division, the Executive Secretariat and the new National Fraud Enforcement Division; none of it addresses public affairs.

No action found yet. This entry is the starting point, not a finding.
