Eliminate the Grid Deployment Office and move its work to CESER
Printed page 380 12. Department of Energy and Related Commissions
“Eliminate GDO and assign necessary activities to the reformed CESER. … They should be reassigned to the reformed and expanded CESER.”
What has happened
- Partially done
The Grid Deployment Office was dissolved in the November 2025 realignment: it is absent from the organization charts of 20 November 2025 and 3 August 2026, and energy.gov/gdo now resolves to the Office of Electricity. Partial rather than done on two counts — its programs went to the Office of Electricity, not to CESER as the Quote asks, and Congress still appropriates under the heading, giving Grid Deployment $25,000,000 for FY 2026 and transferring a further $375,000,000 to the Grid Deployment Office heading for transformer and grid-component supply chains.

Research notes
A reorganization that dissolves the entity and disperses its functions is delivery of a piece, so partial. The test is what happened to the functions: GRIP, the state and tribal grid resilience formula grants and the presidential permits now sit among the Office of Electricity’s areas of focus.
#946 is the mirror ask on the same sentence and stays not started: OE was not combined with CESER.
