Combine the Office of Electricity with CESER
Printed page 374 12. Department of Energy and Related Commissions
“OE could be combined with CESER (as well as what is left of the Grid Deployment Office if it is eliminated).”
What has happened
- Not started
The Office of Electricity and CESER remain separate offices under the Under Secretary of Energy on the organization chart of 3 August 2026. What did happen is the other half of the parenthetical: the Grid Deployment Office was dissolved in the November 2025 realignment and its programs went to the Office of Electricity, not to CESER — energy.gov/gdo now redirects to the Office of Electricity page, whose areas of focus include Grid Deployment, GRIP and the state and tribal grid resilience formula grants.

Research notes
Progress is measured on this ask: the Quote asks that OE be combined with CESER. It was not. The GDO merger went the other way, into OE. See #965, where the GDO half of the same sentence is leveled.
The redirect from https://www.energy.gov/gdo to https://www.energy.gov/oe/office-electricity was observed on 2026-08-31 and is recorded here as an observation; the Evidence is the office page and the two organization charts.
