End EERE's focus on climate change and green subsidies
Printed page 378 12. Department of Energy and Related Commissions
“End the focus on climate change and green subsidies. Under the Biden Administration, EERE is a conduit for taxpayer dollars to fund progressive policies, including decarbonization of the economy and renewable resources.”
What has happened
- Partially done
CMEI formalized the redirection, dividing itself into an Office of Critical Minerals, Materials, and Manufacturing; an Office of Energy Technology; and an Office of Innovation, Affordability, and Consumer Choice. None of the three carries a climate or decarbonisation mission, and the third is described as exercising appliance-standards and building-codes authority with an emphasis on consumer choice and affordability.
- Partially done
EERE ceased to exist under that name: the November 2025 realignment made it the Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation. Partial rather than done because the appropriation continues — P.L. 119-74 funds Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at $3,100,000,000 for FY 2026 — and the office still holds the renewable and efficiency programs, redirected rather than ended.

Research notes
Leveled with #962, the major-tier ask on the adjacent page, which is partial on the same reorganization: the office is gone from the chart, the programs and the appropriation account are not.
The subsidy half of the Quote is mostly a Chapter 22 tax matter; EO 14315 of 7 July 2025 and P.L. 119-21 sections 70512-70513 terminated the wind and solar credits and are recorded at #1021.
