“Increase funding to improve Army training and operational readiness.”

What has happened

  1. Not started

Funding for Army training and operational readiness was not increased. The FY2026 Department of Defense Appropriations Act appropriates $58,249,178,000 for Operation and Maintenance, Army, against $58,604,854,000 enacted for FY2024 in Public Law 118-47 — a nominal cut of about $356 million before inflation, and FY2025 ran at FY2024 levels under a full-year continuing resolution. Public Law 119-21 sec. 20010 adds separate readiness money for the Department as a whole but is not an Army training line. Searched: the FY2026 NDAA for Army training and readiness authorizations; the appropriations act's Army accounts; the Federal Register Corpus. Nothing raises the account the Quote names.

Research notes

Requires Congress, and Congress moved the other way in nominal terms. Operation and Maintenance, Army is the account that pays for training and operational readiness, and the first full-year defense appropriation of the window set it below the last enacted pre-window level.

This item sits in the page 108–110 Army cluster (#189, #190, #191, #193, #194, #195, #196), whose shared instruments are Public Law 119-21 title XX, the FY2026 NDAA and the FY2026 Department of Defense Appropriations Act (Public Law 119-75, division A) — the first full-year defense appropriation of the window. One search covered the whole cluster.
